Judging
Applications are reviewed and discussed by the Award Committee
About six or seven short listed candidates are then invited to an audition day where they play or sing for a professional adjudicator. The 2010 finalists are pictured above. The 2011 auditions will take place on 25 May (Main Award) and a date yet to be decided in the Autumn for the 2nd Junior Award.
Our professional adjudicator for the 2011 main award is Peter Hewitt Head of Junior Music at the Royal College of Music. The adjudicator for the Junior Award is Nicholas Wilks, Director of Music, Winchester College
The finalists for the main award are invited to perform in the Music at Beaulieu Award Concert in Beaulieu Abbey Church, on 25th June 2011, performing selected works of their choice; each receives a performance fee of £100
The Main Award is presented at this concert, which is usually a 'sell out'
However, we don't make the junior winners wait for months to receive their prize - they are presented at the Music at Beaulieu "Music for Christmas" Concert in December
Everyone who enters is welcomed at the Award Concert - each entrant is given a number of free tickets
